Make $ with Your Website
Most people have purchased something on eBay, Amazon or Etsy from time to time; but if you have goods you’d like sold online then Starfire has a quick and affordable solution.
The Starfire eCommerce plan will setup a shopping cart on your website on a very affordable plan. We offer this service as a courtesy and only charge our raw cost in addition to any website purchase. To build the Shopping cart or “eCommerce page”, we simply need product images, product descriptions and pricing.
Here are a few tips to consider when building a website with a shopping cart that most people don’t think about, that speed up the process as well as keep the costs down.
- Picture size. When we are building a website with a shopping cart and we place the pictures on the website, most people don’t realize that the pictures will appear in the size that you provide them to us. We can always resize pictures to meet the criteria and make them uniform across the entire shopping cart, but there is extra time involved with that. So we would like to suggest looking into a program by Adobe called Adobe Lightroom. With Adobe Lightroom you can upload all your pictures in one batch and make them all the same size with just a few clicks of the mouse. You can watch a video about how this awesome program works to make all your picture to the same size here.
- Picture Quality. It’s hard to understand how just a simple picture taken with a smart device and a professional picture can make that much of a difference. But the simple fact is, the better the picture quality is, the better the website will look. It’s all about presentation when it comes to websites. For a simple example, here are two websites we have made for clients. Here you can see why hiring a professional photographer can make the difference. So when building a shopping cart for a website we always suggest hiring a professional photographer. We understand some businesses might just be getting started and cannot afford super high-end photography, so we invite you to check out our photography section. We offer affordable plans for every budget and financing is available as well.
- Price Point. It’s also very important to do your due diligence when building a shopping cart for your website. One of the best ways to decide how to set your price points is to do research on your major competitors. By doing a search in any major search engine you will quickly be able to find your competition and what they are charging for their products. It’s important to keep in mind when you are doing this to not just type in a broad search term like “toys” or “stuffed animals.” To find your competition you will always need to type in your location after the term. For example, if you live in Las Vegas and you are shopping for a website, you would want to type in “web design Las Vegas” or “website Las Vegas”. This way only your local search results will be returned within the given results, and not national competitors.
- Branding. Finally, the biggest and most important part of setting up your shopping cart is your company branding. From logos to pictures, products and attire, keeping your company well branded with a streamlined message and logos makes you an easily recognizable company. This is very important because as your company and brand grow, prospective clients and customers will recognize your brand. When someone recognizes a brand they feel comfortable about doing business with them and will likely not shop around with other companies. You can view some of the branding and logo work we’ve done for some of our clients here.
